We are a non-audition choir and our rehearsals take place on a Friday evening throughout the year with breaks at Christmas, Easter and over the summer. Friday is traditionally when church choirs rehearsed for the Sunday service and despite being independent of the church we stick with that tradition. Many of us enjoy ending the week on a high!
The choir started in 1959 and many of us are members of long-standing and there is a friendly and warm environment for new members.
Rehearsals and Subscriptions
We start our rehearsal at 7.45pm and we meet in Holy Trinity church hall in Claygate, which is step free and accessible. There is plenty of parking in the church car park or in the road.
We hire the music from a local music library and this is included in the subscription fee, which is £180 for a year from September to June, or £60 per term.
We don’t audition so please do try us out for a few weeks to see if you enjoy the singing. You do not need to be able to read music but it is an advantage if you do. For each piece we sing, we send links to rehearsal tracks so you can practice in your own time!
On the day of the concert we have a full-scale rehearsal starting at 2pm and finishing at about 5pm. We are joined by any professional soloists and orchestra for that particular concert and the performance starts at 7.30pm.
